Zongchanggou Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is lies at Zongchanggou, 7 km southwest of Majiaoba, Jiangyou, Sichuan. It was named by Zhu Sen, Wu Jimgzhen et al. in 1942.
Lithology and Thickness
Limestone. Gray and light-gray moderately thick-bedded compact limestone, clayey limestone and bioclastic limestone, intercalated with purple-red and yellow-green shale, lumpy limestone and fine-grained conglomerate, with irregular oolitic textures in the limestones, 33−60 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Disconformable contact with the underlying Majiaoba Fm
Upper contact
Conformable contact with the overlying Zhangbagou Fm
Regional extent
Widely distributed along Majiaoba and Zongchanggou of Jiangyou County, Tongkou and Lijiayuan of Beichuan County, Choujinpo of Qingping Township of Mianzhu County, and Anyue County; among which Majiaoba and Zongchanggou of Jiangyou County are the best developed.

Fossils
Yields abundant Corals: Kueichouphyllum sinense, Yuanophyllum kansuense, Arachnolasma sinense, A. aichiapingense, Carcinophyllum simplex, C. olinotabulatum, Majiaobaphyllum praecepsum, Parathysanophyllum giganteum, Dibunophyllum vaughani, Kusbassophyllum zongchanggouense, Malanophyllum elegans, Protocarcinophyllum baicolum, Lonsdaleia crassiconus and Lithostrotion planocystatum; Brachiopods Gigantoproductus sarsimbaii, G. paplinonacea, G. inplincatus and Datangia ovatiformis.
